Dry Brush Detox
There are so many benefits to dry brushing your skin! I recommend brushing daily in the morning. You can use an organic moisturizing body oil, like organic rose or almond, or simply use the brush alone on your skin. If you’re using an oil, make sure you shower before you brush. If you’re not using any products you should shower afterwards. It only takes about 5 minutes to do your whole body and will leave you feeling awake and energized!
Dry brushing is an amazing morning ritual to adopt for daily detoxing, softening the skin, lymphatic drainage, decreasing inflammation and increasing circulation.
There are a few things to consider when searching for the right dry brush. Purchasing one with a long handle will make it easier for you to brush those hard to reach areas, like the middle of your back. The smaller hand held brushes are nice for using on your stomach, thighs and chest. They also fit nicely in a suitcase and are easy too travel with. I always take mine with me when I’m traveling as inflammation often increases when flying, especially with extended hours of sitting.
Here’s how to dry brush! Start at your feet and brush upward toward the heart. When brushing your arms, you should also start at your hands and brush upwards towards your shoulders. Don’t forget your underarms! We have delicate lymph nodes there that may need some attention, and drainage 🙂 Use firm, small strokes in an upward direction, or work in a circular motion. When brushing your stomach, work in a clockwise direction. Try not to be rough, harsh exfoliation is not the point; be sure not to press too hard or use a brush that’s too stiff. We don’t want to break, scratch or damage the skin. Brushes with medium-soft cactus bristles are ideal. Please reach out to me if you have any questions! May the detoxing begin:)
