Blackened Island Mahi

Mmmmm Mahi Mahi! There’s so much you can do with Mahi! I love it blackened with a little kick. I use a delicious spice mixture consisting of Celtic salt, pepper, chili, cumin, smoked paprika, garlic and onion powder. It’s a little addicting, and what’s amazing is that it’s very versatile! You can make a double or triple batch of this spice seasoning and use it on just about any fish, meat or veggie stir fry. Store the spice mixture in a small jar or glass shaker and pull it out for a quick punch of flavor!

Mahi is a lean fish that provides 19g of protein with only .7g of fat per serving! It’s also a great source of B vitamins, potassium, iron and selenium.

I use this avocado oil when searing my mahi. Avocado oil is low in saturated fats and can handle medium/high cooking heat. Some cooking oils can smoke or turn into trans fats (not good for us) when heated above certain temperatures. I also use organic spices. It’s a small investment if you’re starting organic from scratch. Here’s a good starter selection from one of my favorite brands! It includes all the seasonings in this recipe, plus a few more.

I hope you love it! Let me know how it comes out and make sure to tag me on Instagram @health.girl.guru and #HGGBITES #UNTOX
